Demister pad
  • Metal wire pads with maximum opening and contacts surface which is helpful to trace the liquid droplets which are carrying the vapour.

  • It prevents acidic or corrosion mist droplets to vent of the scrubber or to the top condenser.

  • A demister pad, is a device used for removing entrained liquid droplets

from a gas stream. As the name suggests the demister is used
for removal of the mist from gaseous phase.

  •  Demisters are often fitted just below the top vapor outlet of a vapor

liquid distributor.

  •  Gas stream is not affected by the obstruction in the path and escapes

through top vapor outlet.

  •  The obstruction in the path of liquid droplets can be achieved by a

variety of geometries.

Mist Eliminator

Working principle of Demister Pad.

  • When the gas with mist rises at a constant speed and passes through the wire mesh, the rising mist will collide with the mesh filaments and become attached to the surface filaments due to the inertia effect. The mist will be diffuse on the filament surface, and the droplet will follow along the filaments at the intersection of the two wires. The droplet will grow bigger and isolate from the filament until the droplet's gravity exceeds the gas rising force and liquid surface tension force, while there is little gas passing through the demister pad.

  •  Separating the gas in the droplets can improve the operating condition, optimize process indicators, reduce corrosion of the equipment, extend equipment life, increase the amount of processing and recovery of valuable materials, protect the environment, and decrease air pollution.

  • Demister pad, also called mist pad, wire mesh demister, mesh mist eliminator, catching mist, mist eliminator, is used in a gas-entrained mist separation column to guarantee the filtering efficiency.
